There's been some interesting events I've observed with these groups over the last few months. There has been squabbles and drama on 3 different sites. I even wondered if it was "a full moon" out there, but alas, it was not. Ironically, the purpose of belonging to these groups is to support each other, share successes and failures, and to get advice. It's been interesting to watch some interactions between members disintegrate into arguing, with some pretty mean and vile comments. I guess that can happen when you have so many people with different personalities, of such diverse backgrounds and varied opinions. Perfect fodder for drama.
My son, who has more experience with internet groups and forums, educated me on the topic of "internet trolls". This was new to me! An internet 'troll' is an abusive or obnoxious user who uses shock value to promote arguments and disharmony in online communities. His advice to me: "Don't feed the troll." Even if you really want to reply, it's best not to give the troll the attention. If a forum or group has an administrator, it will be their responsibility to deal with the troll through a warning or removal from the group.
Remember, starve the troll so they don't hijack your group or forum!
